TIME TO RELAX

Mothers needs time to relax after a long day work at home in preparing food, washing the dishes, washing clothes, ironing and from all the chores. Sometimes we are expecting recognition from our children and from our husband to be at least comforted. Or recreate ourselves like going shopping or treating ourselves by buying something for ourselves and eat out in the restaurant or go to a beauty saloon.

One day I realize that my time was drain to my family and my husband noticed that. My husband thought that I may have got bored because I never had time to go out. My husband advises that I need time to relax to go shopping or to beauty salon to fix my hair, or something with myself. I was so pleased and was so happy. I was a happy camper then. I know I am pleased in serving my family. This is my happiness to give my time, love, care and my vividly attention. They are my life. My day is complete when I see them in good spirit.

A MOTHER

What is the role of a mother?  An anonymous author once tells that a good mother has been historically expected to contribute her whole life to her family. Mothers have been the bond that holds a family together because it is up to them to provide the loving care and support needed by growing children. The nurturing a mother provides is incomparable and is a vital part in child’s care. It takes learning and practice to become a qualified mother. It is not an easy job because mothers must learn as they go. It is helpful if they were raised in a caring home so that they can pass it on to their child. A good mother is obligated to care for her family and put them before anything else. The ideal living environment that a mother can provide for her children is a warm caring home.

In my family, as a mother I take care of all the needs of my child and my husband to make them comfortable and happy.  I make sure that I give them quality time. I play with them. We have our separate time for recreation so we can bond as family. I check them before going to bed. I do monitor their needs every now and then. A work of a mother has no day off. My time is occupied to my family. I have to make sure that everything is in order. I stop my work just to take with them.

BABY’S SIXTH MONTH ACTIVITIES

Fortunately, in the sixth month my baby has enough strength to roll over and over and have confidence to stand and bear his body with my support. He now learns how to crawl and how to sit. He has ability to play most of the time with his hand and make some sound and mumbles. He cries when nobody is around him. At his age he knows how to extend his hand. When he picks up object and put them into his mouth. He listened when I talk to him. He turns his head when I called his name. And now, there stomach is ready for the foodstuff, so I gave him a small amount of food to eat just to instigate his taste buds as well as entice his appetite.

BABY’S FOURTH TO FIFTH MONTH ACTIVITIES

The fourth and the fifth month of my baby was so promising. He is now strong enough to start roll. But what I also noticed is that he is much capable of rolling into one direction only and that’s going right. Going the other way makes him so frustrated and making one successful attempt would be a great relief. I am wary to control him closely, particularly when he attempts to roll. I am not confident with his movement so there is always a pillow every side of our bed. He regularly sleeps at 5 o’clock and always wakes up early at 4 o’clock in the morning. At this age he started playing with his toys. He can tolerate his credence with my hold up when he stands. It was at this age when he started mumbling.

BABY’S THIRD MONTH ACTIVITIES

On the third month my little baby seems to have grown every day. It looks smooth better as he initiate to stretch out his body. He’s growing strong. He can stand his head by his own with out the support of my hand. He begins to communicate. His emotional feeling slowly developed and he can immediately respond. He turns his head when there’s somebody making noise.  He can toughen his legs to bear his heaviness when supported with my hand. He is enjoying with new stance. By this, I notice that every time I give new things that new in his sight he gets amazed and he would take a looks at it for a minute. So I started to show some action that he can relate to. And I begin to teach him a new word to hear for he can easily develop and emulate sounds and construct vocabulary afterward. I talk to him like a big boy for he will build up his self esteem and self personality and it will sharp his mind and early at his age create his motivation.

BABY’S SECOND MONTH ACTIVITIES

At his second month he seems to have started seeing things around him. He seems to have started focusing on things that attract him. They say babies’ starts to see colors at this age. I also noticed that at this time he already can move his head and recognize some familiar sound. He begins to relax his muscles and straighten his body from his slept. But his hands still remain clenched except during periods of sleep or quiet alertness. He responses by giving his smile at me when I doing him a pick a boo. I notice he begin to cry to obtain a specific response from me. I come to him and give him comfort.  I at times noticed that I seem to have blotch him by giving too much attention, cuddling or feeding on demand. On the other hand, he will learn that he is safe in my arms and had observed that every time I try to put him down he cries.  At his age he quick realized how comforting it is to be in his mother arms and close to the breast.

BABY’S FIRST MONTHS ACTIVITIES

This entry tells about major observations I had about my baby on his first month. Babies are so delicate. On my baby’s first month I’ve noticed he cries very often.  I have to check him every now and then because he might have been hungry or he might not be feeling well. In most cases he cries for milk. I’m breastfeeding so I also know when he’s feeling hot or not feeling good. Normally at this age babies can’t see or if they may, it could be blurry. He can’t move by his own, so I have to move his head so that it would be balanced. He seems to want more attention from me. He always spills a bit of milk from his mouth every time he finishes drinking. His skins were so sensitive that I have to be careful every time I change his clothes.  I have to sterilize all his things. I’ll also notice how he keeps his hands clenched and arms and legs curled in.

THE IMPORTANCE OF IMMUNIZATION

I’ve heard and adhere to the fact that immunization is important for the baby to protect the baby from any known harm. But every now and then new illnesses are discovered and new vaccine is developed to immunize our young ones. At first what I was only mindful of just getting or completing the available free vaccines that our local health centers offer. I don’t even mind about how important the other vaccines may be. One of my friends told me that I should get more immunization for my baby. Also my sister-in-law told me not to ignore those vaccines for my baby’s protection against viruses and bacteria in the surroundings.

At first I was quit hesitant of availing those vaccines because they were so expensive. I talked to my husband about it. My husband said that we will get all the vaccines needed to secure our baby from any illness. I immediately noted everything in my reminder book and booked for my baby’s vaccination.

His first immunization was made at the hospital those were BCG and HepaB. His second immunization shots were HepaB; DPT and polio were all done at the vaccination center at our local healthcare center. Month after month we visited our local healthcare center immunization until we finished the required basic immunization package. The healthcare center gave the following: DPT vaccine, Hepatitis-B vaccine, Polio vaccine, and the last one was the vaccine against measles.  There were vaccines prescribed by the doctor which the healthcare centers can’t provide which, were very expensive. These vaccines were Rotavirus and HIb. Every shot of these vaccines, were expensive. Rotavirus requires two shots and it will and the latter (HIb) requires three shots. I was really worried that we might not be able to complete the vaccination since we don’t have enough money. We were really on financial constraint, but my husband was genuinely decided that we would avail of the vaccine.

We finally made it. The vaccination was completed with the help of God. Now with God’s grace my baby is very healthy and so far has never been sick.

THE RIGHT AGE FOR FEEDING

When my baby turned two months old we went on our regular check up with the doctor. The doctor gave some advice on proper baby care. One of the advices the doctor has given was about feeding the baby at the right age. But when is the right time for feeding? I’ve met a lot of women, mothers and friends. Some of them start feeding their babies at 4th month, some at the 5th and others at 6th month. So I asked our doctor about it. When is the real right age for feeding? The doctor advised me to feed the baby in the sixth month. According to her, this is the right age to feed the baby in order to avoid some complications and allergies from occurring. She further informed me of which food to give during the first month. That it should be one kind at a time so we can identify which food causes allergies if some sort reaction may happen. As for me, I make sure that the food I feed would not cause him an allergy. I always follow the advice of our pediatrician because they know what is best for our baby.

THE RIGHT FOOD FOR THE BABY

Some mothers are giving food to their baby which is not suitable for their age, while others  feed their baby with foods complete with nutrients that just appropriate to their age and with daily vitamins that given by the pediatricians on top of that.

For my six months old baby I got confused with which food would be right to give at his age. As a mother I would like to assure that my baby is getting the right nutrients, so I asked to my parents and our pediatrician because they are know much better. Our parents advice us to cook fresh foods like vegetables and fruits. Our pediatrician advised that we give cereals. Their advice was good so we took it.

Eating Time

Eating Time

I started feeding my baby with food in his sixth month. Last week I blend him rice and egg.  Three hour after I feed him I notice that his face and some portion of his body turned red. He developed some sort of allergy. I immediately consult our pediatrician about this situation and she said that the baby may had developed an allergy from what he ate, the doctor immediately prescribed me an anti allergy drop for my baby.

Mothers should be very careful with choosing food for their baby. If in anyway we could not be sure of the food that we are about to feed our babies, then it would be best to consult our baby’s doctor.
