Would You Diet or Exercise?

To stay slim and trim, Zach runs five miles almost every day. Because of his hearty workouts, he feels he’s earned the right to eat whatever he wants. His wife, Karryl however, would rather read the fine print on the insurance guidelines than get anywhere near a treadmill or gym. Her way out to weight control is by vigilantly selecting what she eats. That’s why you’re more likely to see her reach for a piece of fruit instead of a cookies or slice of cake.

So which one has the more efficient approach to staying trim? Well, a lot depends on whether your weight objective is short – or long –term. If your purpose is to condense body fat and keep your weight at a healthy, comfortable level, research has confirmed that regular exercise is the most important factor for long-term success.

You can lose weight without exercising. People do it all the time. “[However] the ones who manage to keep off lost weight for at least a year is drawn in in a regular exercise program,” says nutritionist Bonnie Freedman. “[By comparison], a significant number of people who lose weight through diet alone gain it back after a year.”There are several factors as to why. For many people, dieting for an extended period of time is just too thorny, it’s like treading water – you can do it for a while, but pretty soon you’re going to sink. In dieter’s term, that generally means ending up frustrated, unhappy, and even more inclined to overindulge. For these reasons dieters seek weight loss diet supplements to foster their spirit of staying slim and trim.

“Also, exercise is a very valuable and lasting way to shed pounds because it changes the energy equilibrium in your body – your metabolism – by increasing the amount of energy you burn up in an average day.” Freedman says. Exercise helps your body burn calories more swiftly. “And people who exercise on a regular basis tend to be more physically active all through the reminder of the day, adding to their calorie expenditure,” Freedman adds.

Season of Giving

The yuletide season is perhaps the happiest season in this predominantly Christian country. In contrast to the oppressive heat of the sweltering summer, this time the air is crisp and balmy. The weather is generally refreshing and invigorating. It is a pleasant experience to stroll down a country lane at night and view the harvest moon sometimes framed between coconut fronds as it sails serenely through a cloudless tropical sky.

Christmas lanterns of various shapes and colors hang in the windows of some homes. Their soft glow seems to say that the light of peace and love and goodwill is also shining in the hearts of the people inside.

School is out for the long holidays, and the happy voices of children at play are heard everywhere.  Some parents take their children to the malls and grab them some toys, fruit cake and Christmas crackers in spite of the tight money situation these days; they still come home with packages under their arms. These kids will perhaps wear new clothes and sports new shoes when they go to church or when they visit their godfather and godmother come Christmas day.

Those who are religiously inclined, attend the nine morning masses. On Christmas night the families get together, eat together and enjoy tea while waiting for the midnight and watch fireworks.

We see the symbols of Christmas everywhere – the tinsel of gold and glitter of silver, the jingle bells and happy carols, the well-decorated Christmas trees with a star at the top, the red-nosed reindeer and jolly old Santa, the queso de bola and the other noche Buena goodies, the gift packages tied with ribbons of red and green, and so on. What, really, does Christmas mean to us? Christmas is the season of love, season of giving and certainly the season to give thanks to the earth-born child of our Heavenly Father.

Eight Keys to a Longer Life

Life, to be meaningful, must be lived in order to bless others. As we live because of others, we make others live because of us.

Eight Keys to a Longer Life:

  1. Start each day with exercise
  2. Eat a good breakfast
  3. Eat regular meals
  4. Keep yourself at an ideal weight
  5. Drink no alcohol
  6. Use no tobacco
  7. Get seven or eight hour of sleep each day
  8. Trust in God and believe in service to man

If people incorporated all these eight practices in their lives, Dr. U.D Register, Ph.D professor of nutrition at the Loma Linda University School of Health, believes the average person could potentially add fifteen years to his life.  ”discount inks

Living for Tomorrow is Living Life Now

The desire to live long is embedded deep in the human heart. Queer indeed is the person who does not want to live to a ripe old age.

But why do we want to live long? Could it be that our will to live is in reality an affirmation of our tear of death, although it may be difficult to remain alive? Why do we say, “Thank God, I’m still alive,” every time we survive a catastrophe? On the other hand, how strange it is that in certain situations some people wish to end their live.

It is not only pathetic but tragic when a person does not have a purpose in life, for he is merely existing, and not living. To be truly meaningful, life must be focused toward a direction. Without one, it would be like a ship without a rudder, tossed by the waves in a strange ocean. It may not reach the other shore.

But what direction in living affords the good life?

Certain people live to satisfy only themselves. To them, self-gratification is the raisond’etre of existence. Their philosophy is, “Eat live, for tomorrow you die.” If something is good and pleasing, partake of it as much as you can.

Consequently, these people who live only for self don’t care about the future. Their motto is “Never mind the future for the future will take care of itself.” This is the kaingero’s philosophy of life. Also the profligate’s.

This approach to living, however, shows one’s ignorance, if not indifference to the nature of life. It is a negation of the purpose of life. It destroys the unity and harmony of life.   CouponUS.com

Run for a Cause

When was the last time you run? I am not a runner nor have got myself involved in fun runs or marathons for a cause. There was not much physical exercise for years it’s been 6 years since my last mountain climb and to be honest with I feel like endurance, and agility is deteriorating. I am looking for an alternative hobby to keep myself busy.

Lately, a series of Fun runs and marathons were organized by non-profit society, which is held every 2nd and last Sunday mornings of the month. The programs have been running for 3 months now. A lot of people have registered and it really has drawn peoples interest to help and stay fit. Each events proceeds goes to different projects. This last Sunday of September, the run’s purpose is to raise funds to provide shoes to the less fortunate indigenous people specially those in the rural area. My husband’s teammates at work have agreed to help and would run 5K. He does not have a running shoes so he get himself the beautiful sleek Nike Shox that he’s been eyeing for quite a while. The fun run’s objective was noble and it stirred me up of course I would love to help as much as I love to buy a new running shoe so I am thinking of registering too and get myself a Nike shoe.

Household Hints

Dust on fabric upholstered furniture may not be apparent as on polished wooden furniture but dust also settles on upholstery. When dust accumulates, the fabric upholstery gets discolored making it difficult to restore its original color.

Here are some pointers on the maintenance of the type of furniture from the Home Care Center:

At least once a week, remove cushions then clean all surfaces with a stiff brush or with the upholstery attachment of a vacuum cleaner, particularly on seams and tufts.

In the case of spills, deal with these as soon as possible to prevent stains. But first test on an inconspicuous area for color fastness or for some chemical reaction should chemicals be used. For fabrics that cannot be washed, use dry cleaners.

For washable fabrics, prepare upholstery shampoo thus: Dissolve about 6 tablespoonfuls pure, white soap flakes in a pint of boiling water. Add two teaspoonfuls ammonia. Let mixture stand until it thickens or jells, then whip vigorously with an egg beater. Apply the lather with a small, soft brush on a small area at a time scrubbing moisture as possible. Next, wipe the area with a clean cloth wrung dry out of clear tepid water. Continue same procedure in adjoining areas till the entire surface has been covered.

Wait for the furniture to dry thoroughly before using it. Use an electric fan to hasten drying.

Dried Coffee Beans

I like it when we were kids. Back then my grandparents have a little farm and we get to visit them on vacation some time. Life in the farm was simple; people cook with fresh vegetables from the backyard garden. In the morning they grit dried coffee beans and brew coffee for breakfast.

My grandparents are farmers and coffee bean is one of their produce. Some times when we were kids we go with them and watch them harvest coffee beans. My parents together with other farmers join them too. They put their produce in sacks and dry them under the sun to for days. The following week they sell the sacks of dried coffee beans to coffee manufacturer.

Optimize With Brash

Every person who takes their business into the web desires to optimize their sites, increase their traffic and augment their markets. Bloggers alike make use of plug-ins and some links to optimize each site. When it comes to website optimization, one new SEO is starting to make a name. It’s Brash.

But was does Brash means? Here’s how they define Brash.

Brash – offensively bold, tastelessly or offensively loud, showy, rash, impudent.
Being Brash isn’t a bad thing. In the dog eat dog world of search engines and web presence, whoever shouts the loudest is generally heard the easiest. You gotta be Brash to be heard.
So what does Brash mean to our guys?
James Fairbrother: Brash is getting to do things in new, creative and sometimes crazy ways.
Natasha Wrall: Brash is not conforming to the norm, it’s all about individuality, creativity and being able to dye my hair whatever colour I want.
Matt Newing: Brash is getting revved up about our work and yelling Yeehah!
Adam Turton: It’s all about being a sexy brand that gets the job done.
John Daly: Brash is a lifestyle choice, not a job.
Hannah Crellin: Who wants to be like everybody else anyway?

Right at the heart of Brash Ltd. lies growth. As John Daly, Head of Search says, “If we are not growing, there is no point getting out of bed, I always wake up with growth in mind and sometimes in hand” And at Brash, we’re all early risers. Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise (weekends excluded of course).

Brash is the best of the best. If you work for Brash, then you’re obviously the best in your field – if you work for Brash, you have the ideas that no one else has. It’s not about fitting in and looking the part, it’s about talent and making magic happen. We work hard and play hard and often, one is the same as the other.

Fortune favours the brave, the bold and the Brash.

“Life Is Too Important To Be Easy”

Sometimes we think that life should be easier. After all, it looks easy for others. Comparing ourselves or our circumstances can be dangerous business, especially since we compare with a purpose in  mind – either to make ourselves look better or worse than those around us. Ralph is better looking. Sheila has permissive parents. Pat makes friends quickly. Mark seems so sure of himself.

The seed of jealousy is planted. Let the others have their good points; you too have yours. You may not be able to visualize them right now, but some day when you are feeling up, make a list of your good qualities and the positive factors in your life – and save it for the next blue day.

When the “if onlys” hit, take action before they have time to bury themselves deep into your psyche. Do something.  Get busy. Physical activity, work or exercise, always helps. Think until you come up with one thing (or quality, or condition) you’re glad you have. Then do something for someone else: phone a friend you know is down, help with something around the house, smile at a stranger.

One of my friends told me once. “Life is too important to be easy

You can’t maintain a constant of happiness – nobody can. But the harder you work at gratitude and the sooner you dissolve the “if onlys,” the better you’ll feel. There’s no limit to how high you can soar in joy, once you’ve unclipped your wing.
