Traveling Tips

Your family may going out for shopping, or for a picnic, or for an appointment. Traveling with a baby or with little kids on board a car be a safe and pleasant experience if you consider the following tips:

  • Wear a seat belt and ask all passengers to do the same.
  • Do not use any substitute infant seat or ordinary travel bed for a car seat.
  • Do not allow two children or a parent and a child to use only one seat belt.
  • Never let the baby ride in your arms while the car is moving.
  • Avoid the temptation not to place the baby in a car seat “because we’re traveling only a few blocks.”
  • Do not leave the rear door of the car open. This lets in exhaust fumes. Also, dangerous objects may come through the open door in a crash.
  • Do not allow children to play with sharp objects or metals while the car is moving. These objects may accidentally hit them if the car suddenly stops.
  • Put loose objects inside the car trunk.
  • A pregnant mother should especially use a seat belt. Until her child is born, she is the baby’s “car seat.” The lap belt must be kept below her uterus, across the pelvic bone, to avoid injury to the baby from the seat belt.
  • Bring along musical tapes and play them right after buckling the baby in.
  • Bring along nonchokable snacks like rice cakes or bread. Do not allow kids to suck on lollipops or popsicles or anything with a stick. A swerve or an accident could ram the stick into the kids’ throats.
  • When driving long distances, make frequent pit stops.

When Baby Turns Ten Months

On the tenth month infants or babies starts to understand some simple word and phrases, so it is very important that we, mothers should keep on talking to our babies. Mother should have patterns in teaching babies to imitate words like repeating words constantly. While baby talk is so cute to listen to, we should also keep in mind that this is the point where our babies learn the right way to talk. So if possible talk and pronounce words correctly so for our babies to learn things the right way. The pronunciation should be correct and conversation can be encouraging your baby to develop his language skills.  At this age baby can stand without a support by holding the hard object, possibility letting go and stand without the support. Baby can take step when held in a walking position.
My little baby boy is now on his tenth month. Day by day he slows his improvements especially with his communication skills. He can stand alone, every now and then he masters his balance. Every time he get near to a stable support, he holds, stand and let go, then stand for a minute or two. He also focuses on watching his favorite educational video. We let him watch Barney. He loves to crab on books and things that attract him. He also imitates actions. My baby surprises me every now and then with his development and I can’t wait what he has for me when he gets 11 months.

Spirit of Christmas

Every time December comes we always feel this instinct, this expectations that someone would give us something. Well, what else? It’s the season of giving. Not to forget, all of us are excited to receive our bonuses and 13th month pay.lol…

Christmas is coming, its days more to go. Can’t you feel the air of Christmas? The season of giving and sharing is here. Have you started making list of people you will be giving gifts this Christmas? Have you started making list of items you’ll be gifting? Have you thought of the menu you’d prepare this Christmas?  Have you decorated your house with Christmas tree, lights, chimes, glitters, and played Christmas songs?

My family doesn’t really find Christmas Celebration on December as a big celebration. Though we believe and celebrate with the rest we don’t really take December 25 as a big day. Why? Simply because we believe that Christmas is everyday.  But in tradition, we appreciate the spirit of Christmas that the world is celebrating on the month of December.  In fact, my sister-in-law gave a gift to our son. And this is the first gift that Zacharie has received from his Aunt. Well, I know there’s more to come…lol. J

Ella’s Birthday Party

It’s nice to attend a birthday party. Everybody enjoys and everyone is happy. There’s a lot of food prepare by the love ones of the celebrator. Taking pictures with family and friend. Meet new friends. Enjoy watching and participating in funny activities. In some birthday party especially in children’s party it nice to hire a clown just to entertain the celebrant’s guests.

One of my close friend’s two-year-old sister celebrates her birthday last Sunday evening and we had a chance to celebrate with them. They were complete; her brother came all the way home from Manila to Cebu just to celebrate the birthday of their youngest sister. The party was very simple yet full of support and warmth from the celebrators love-ones. Ella has had a great time on her birthday bash.

And our little boy also enjoyed watching of new faces around him. This is his first time to attend a birthday party. He love sing along with the music played. He got very much attracted to the balloons so I tried to bring him near the balloons for him to touch them gently. He is the only little one who graces Ella’s 2nd birthday. Even my little son can’t speak, I know his heart was filled with happiness and may be saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY ATE ELLA…

Eight Months And Three Weeks Old Baby

messing my bed

messing my bed

The eight month and 3 weeks old baby is strong enough to pull themselves in their feet and stay by holding in hard object. The most wonderful development of the baby is on how to get up but the baby can’t back to down again. At this age, it will stand and stand as long as they can hold on, and to end with either tumble or cry to be rescued.  This time baby has a clear vision, good enough to recognize some object around the room. And try to crawl just to get the object that attract in his sight. He can use his fingers to bring up a piece of food and feed himself. He learned to open his hand to drop and drop objects like toys. He starts to grab something and learn to pick up tiny object with his thumb and first finger.

My little boy in now eight months and 3 weeks old, we notice that he try to stand as long as he wants, he holds on hard object and stands, after he stands he tumble and we are in his side to protect his bump. Sometime on dinner, we bring him in the table and he tries grabbing foods. As we observe our baby, he can identify the people around him and he smile to them. If we demonstrate some sound, he can he easily respond on it and on some other day we play around by calling his name outside our home, and he tries to find where the voice from. If we extend our hand to him, he knows that we are going to get him. He crawls faster than before and can get up and sit from lying. We are happy as parent that our baby’s development has coincided with experts’ observation.

FAMILY OUTINGS

Outings invite the use of all the child’s five senses. The child learns about the world through these senses. So he must be encouraged to look, listen, taste, smell, and touch as many things as possible.

Through outings, the child learns to discover and appreciate new things as well as to ask questions about the environment. He becomes perceptive and aware. His outlook widens. The grooups and individuals he relates to increase. Sharpening his senses prepares him for more complicated tasks.

Going out for walks or rides or visits is a favorite treat among children. It takes them out of the house to discover, explore and learn.

The activity need not be expensive. The outings could just be a walk around the neighborhood, a trip to the market, a stroll to a nearby playground, or part of regular visits to relatives and friends.

To make the walk leisurely and absorbing, you could tell a story or recite a poem. If during an outing, he just wants to sit somewhere, don’t fuss. Just urge him to look around. Call his attention to the trees, their leaves and fruit, the people walking about, the small animals, the dragonflies, etc.

After the outing, encourage him to talk about or draw his impressions on the trip. Attending to the child’s interests, answering his questions, catering to his intellectual requirements are a good way to show your child that you care for him.

Not A Camera Shy Baby

My baby is on the last week of his seventh month and at this age he has shown a lot of development that amuses us. These are development that we expect to be evident on the eight month. One of them is his sense of belongingness. Babies has there own sense of belongings. Just like on this following pictures, my little boy knows that the toys they’re playing with is his. He also has the sense that he is on his own place or that he owns the place.

That's mine...

That's mine...

Another thing that we found out is that our baby at this age already knows how to respond to what we would like him to do. For instance, he cries and so for us to pacify him we call his name and tell him to smile for a photo shot, he then will cease crying and smiles to face the camera.  Not a camera shy baby huh… Just take a glance of the photographs.

Little One’s World

Little ones has there own world. It seems that they have their own language to understand each other. They have their own conversation in ways that we adults seem not to understand. We see them enjoying even they don’t speak well. They look amazing. We don’t know how their conversation goes. When they get bored and if we don’t keep an eye on them they may end up fighting. Here are some pictures of my little one playing with my friend’s baby.

LAST WEEK OF SEVENTH MONTH

My baby is used to his surroundings and recognizes familiar faces. We use to go out every now and then away from home so that he would be exposed and get acquainted to unfamiliar things and people. We visit some friends; we go out sometimes in some unfamiliar places to interrupt his sense of security and routine.

He has shown a lot of development. A lot has changed. Last few days, I notice he is very irritable, I didn’t understand what he wants, that time I don’t know what I was suppose to do. My husband really got mad at me, because I only watch him crying. My husband took the baby to his arms and appeases the baby. Perhaps my baby just wants to feel the warmth of our embrace.

This few days as well I noticed that he like to crumple papers, watch television, and make more noise with his toys. He is more attracted in colorful thing. His sense of security has developed slowly, he knows who is with him and now seems to be selective of who he wants to carry and cuddle him. He easily responds to activities like taking pictures, he smiles every time we call his attention for photograph shots.

BABY TURNING EIGHT MONTHS

Baby grows faster as we don’t notice their development. By the end of seven months, the baby should be able to sit without support and maybe feed himself something small.  He has learned what he likes and what he doesn’t and will likely object cries if you grasp away a toy or an object he’s playing. At this age the baby’s learn how the world works around him, how to use his arms and legs, what he likes and what he doesn’t like.  His social skills develop together with his physical aptitude. He can move his leg. He may kick something near from him. He cries if nobody around him, if he can feel that there is somebody with him, it makes him feeling better.

My baby is now turning eight months. We noticed that he can sit without our support. He cried if he wants something with some sort kicking feet act. Added with to his development, he tries to stand on his own two feet. He easily catches any unfamiliar sounds. He feels most comfortable sleeping on our arms at any time of the day. But at evening, he likes to lie down in bed. We also notice that he has improved more on playing with his hands, he learn a lots of sign language. Most of the time, he is babbling with his saliva. We’re just always focusing our attention to him because he is curious on everything that catches his sight.
