It’s summertime! You worked hard all year round. Now is the time to recreate, rejuvenate, and relax. If you want to enjoy this summer, here some tips to a safe and healthy summer.
- Drink more fluids regardless of your activity level.
- Wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.
- Limit your outdoor activity to morning and evening hours.
- Protect your skin from the sun by wearing sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat.
- Put on sunscreen with high SPF level, preferably 24 and up for adults, and 15 for kids.
- Visit therapy clinics for a soothing body, foot, and facial massage. Aside from its therapeutic effect on your body, massage provides relaxation, balance in the body’s various centers, healthy circulation, and an overall manipulation of the physical form and structure of the body. Ask your therapist on the right type of massage you need.
- Don’t drink liquids that contain caffeine or large amounts of sugar. They actually cause you to lose more body fluid.
Here are some points the Athletic Institute of Chicago recommends that you follow in exercise:
1. The time to exercise is when you think you are too busy for it.
2. Select a sport that compensates for the excessive demands of your occupation.
3. Be moderate, avoid overdoing and overstrain.
4. Engage in more than one favorite sport so that more muscles are used and some muscles not overworked.
How much exercise? A good guide for judging the amount is what the physical educators all call “recovery ability.” In activity, both the breathing and heart rate speed up, but ten minutes after you stop, both should get back very nearly to their rate before you begin the exercise. If following a two-hour rest you still fell weak, you have overexerted for your present condition. None of this means to stop exercising: it simply means you must start more slowly.
The following exercises were designed by the American Medical Association for adults. They are scientifically sound and the product of years of study. Used daily, they will help to increase organic vigor, muscular strength, body suppleness, and motor reaction. Do them correctly, vigorously, and in good posture. If you have not been exercising, in the beginning repeat each exercise the minimum number of times, then gradually increase counts to maximum. Ten minutes of your time everyday can pay big dividend in good health.
I want to share this story because of the wonderful lesson it brings to our daily life.
One day the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country; he wanted to show his son how poor some people can be. They spent a couple days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family. As they were returning home, the father asked the boy, “How was the trip?”
“It was great, Dad.”
“Did you see how poor people can be?”
“So what did you learn from the trip?”
The boy said, “I saw that we have one dog, and they have four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our yard, and they have a creek that ahs no end. At night we imported lanterns, and they have the stars.
“Our patio reaches to the front yard, and they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land to live on, and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others.
“We buy our foods, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us. They have friends to protect them. “
Then the boy added, Thanks, Dad, for showing me how poor we are!”
Too many times we forget what we have and concentrate on what we don’t have. One person’s worthless object is another’s prized possession. It’s all based on one’s perspective. Makes you wonder what would happen if we all gave thanks to God for all the bounty He has provided instead of worrying about wanting more.

It’s nice to attend a birthday party. Everybody enjoys and everyone is happy. There’s a lot of food prepare by the love ones of the celebrator. Taking pictures with family and friend. Meet new friends. Enjoy watching and participating in funny activities. In some birthday party especially in children’s party it nice to hire a clown just to entertain the celebrant’s guests.
One of my close friend’s two-year-old sister celebrates her birthday last Sunday evening and we had a chance to celebrate with them. They were complete; her brother came all the way home from Manila to Cebu just to celebrate the birthday of their youngest sister. The party was very simple yet full of support and warmth from the celebrators love-ones. Ella has had a great time on her birthday bash.

And our little boy also enjoyed watching of new faces around him. This is his first time to attend a birthday party. He love sing along with the music played. He got very much attracted to the balloons so I tried to bring him near the balloons for him to touch them gently. He is the only little one who graces Ella’s 2nd birthday. Even my little son can’t speak, I know his heart was filled with happiness and may be saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY ATE ELLA…
just touch the balloon
atlast i touch the balloon... thanks to my mama
One Sunday, while we were on our Sunday morning exercise at a playground near in our house, a plant truly catches my attention. It looks like an artificial ornamental plant. Not contented by just starring from afar I came closer to the plant and I try to touch it. To my surprise the plant was real. I just can’t believe my eye coz it really looked artificial when I looking from the distance and even when you are near. I really enjoyed seeing that plant. It’s one of a kind. I admit that I’ve seen a lot of rare plants and flower in mountain when I was still active with mountaineering they were nice and beautiful. This one too. I appreciate the beauty of every flower at the mountain, and this plant that I’ve seen at the playground of the school, really makes difference. It has a unique color and beauty that I really attract my sight. In fact, I don’t know what kind of plant it was and I don’t even know what it is called.
Every thing in nature will always be good in the sight of every human especially in children. Mothers should expose your little one in the nature, even in their young age. We have to tell them of the creation that were made by our Heavenly Creator.
Nowadays family usually has a hectic schedule that often propels each member bustling off in a diverse course much of the week. There are not many circumstances when a family truly sits down together for more than the few minutes it takes to eat a meal (and sometimes not even that long). We would like to prevent such occurrence in the future and while these has not happen to us yet since our son is still young, we now starts to building action plans.

Setting a specific day for family recreation is an action-plan that eventual came into our minds. When the family gets use to it, then it would be a habit or an orientation that will be practiced until our children grows. It’s good to have a family recreation, even very simple recreational activities gives more meaning and can impact development of the family relationship, which keeps the family strong and bounded. Exercising together is one of the activities that may promote family bonding.
Exercise early sunday morning
Yesterday was a beautiful Sunday, a wonderful Sunday to our family. My husband woke up early in the morning and said that we are going to go East Visayan Academy to have morning exercise. And I got ready immediately because it seldom happened that my husband would wake up early in Sunday morning just to exercise. It feels good that the whole family is having fun together especially in first hour of the day, it make our day.
Human as we are, we so are busy. In a normal life we had so many things to do. Everyday we have different activity to be done. Like our daily endeavors, after work, some of us have night life affairs. Some of us go to parties, hang out with friends, or make some extra money and so much more that sometimes we forgot our duty on giving time to our family, especially to children. Most parents overlook to give more quality time to them. They are involved in many commitments outside to gain more money. They don’t even recognize the needs of their children by giving quality time with them.
Family bonding is very important to our children. Children value the quality moment with their parent. It will create strong interest and involvement inside the family than outside activities.
To spend quality time with our family, we do worship together as the adage goes “The family that prays together, stays together. Take more time to talk to children, talk to them like a friend. Play with their favorite games. Give some moral thoughts, share some values and goals, and encourage them that make them individual. Have time in going beach as a family or going shopping with your family. Going out and eat sometimes in the fast food or the restaurant.
I know we have a hard time to give them a good quality time but just keep on trying because this is the most important thing that the children needed the most from their parents.

Mothers needs time to relax after a long day work at home in preparing food, washing the dishes, washing clothes, ironing and from all the chores. Sometimes we are expecting recognition from our children and from our husband to be at least comforted. Or recreate ourselves like going shopping or treating ourselves by buying something for ourselves and eat out in the restaurant or go to a beauty saloon.
One day I realize that my time was drain to my family and my husband noticed that. My husband thought that I may have got bored because I never had time to go out. My husband advises that I need time to relax to go shopping or to beauty salon to fix my hair, or something with myself. I was so pleased and was so happy. I was a happy camper then. I know I am pleased in serving my family. This is my happiness to give my time, love, care and my vividly attention. They are my life. My day is complete when I see them in good spirit.

What is the role of a mother? An anonymous author once tells that a good mother has been historically expected to contribute her whole life to her family. Mothers have been the bond that holds a family together because it is up to them to provide the loving care and support needed by growing children. The nurturing a mother provides is incomparable and is a vital part in child’s care. It takes learning and practice to become a qualified mother. It is not an easy job because mothers must learn as they go. It is helpful if they were raised in a caring home so that they can pass it on to their child. A good mother is obligated to care for her family and put them before anything else. The ideal living environment that a mother can provide for her children is a warm caring home.
In my family, as a mother I take care of all the needs of my child and my husband to make them comfortable and happy. I make sure that I give them quality time. I play with them. We have our separate time for recreation so we can bond as family. I check them before going to bed. I do monitor their needs every now and then. A work of a mother has no day off. My time is occupied to my family. I have to make sure that everything is in order. I stop my work just to take with them.
